A mid-size music venue (capacity ~575) in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Opened in 1998, the Bowery Ballroom quickly became one of NYC's premier venues for rock and indie acts, prized for its excellent acoustics and elegant 1920s building.
In the late '90s and 2000s, Bowery Ballroom was the place to catch rising stars in an intimate setting. Hosted early NYC shows by The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend. Beloved by established artists for special gigs – U2 played a fan club show here in 2000; Bob Dylan played a surprise gig in 2004. Rolling Stone magazine frequently lists it among the best rock clubs in America. The interior's art-deco charm and great sightlines make it a favorite. Many live albums and recordings have been done here thanks to its acoustics.
